Our New Family Blog - Sloans Abroad!
Welcome to Sloans Abroad!
If you've found this blog, you probably know our family and we're pleased to share this with you! If you're new here - we are equally as pleased. Allow us to introduce ourselves!
We are Cassidy and Scott Sloan - mother and father to four awesome children: Rowan (9), Ember (7), Arwen (5) and Alden (due very soon!)

How We Met:
We met in 2009 through the Civil Air Patrol program - I would go to pick up my sister, and he was there at the meetings. We bumped into each other at our Homeschool Junior Prom that year, danced together once, and then didn't talk again until the following year in February 2010. After inviting me to a local Christian concert, and then asking me to Senior Prom - we fell in love!
It didn't take long to realize we were going to get married - we had many discussions about children, philosophy, religion, our shared homeschool background, and the future. We were engaged in June and then married that October!
Since then, we've had three amazing children!
Rowan is the eldest, currently age nine. He loves anything having to do with robots or video games. Ember is age seven. She loves being outside in nature or painting with watercolors.
Arwen is a bit of a wild card, as wild and fiery as her hair. She loves to play make believe, loves ponies and has an imaginary world in which she is a "baby master". I have no idea what that means, you'll have to ask her.
I am a homeschool mother, currently 36 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. When I'm not carrying around new members of the family, I am a competitive powerlifter and OCR (obstacle course racer).
I'm also passionate about birth keeping/authentic midwifery as well as educating new mothers about birthing outside the system.

Scott enjoys learning about electronics, specifically the ins and outs of building computers. He games in his spare time, favorites being Fall Out, Skyrim, and Minecraft.
He is every bit the family man - going on long walks with the children and myself to our favorite coffee shop once a week.
On occasion he will head down to the southern islands of Geoje/거제도 to do some deep sea fishing with his co-workers.
Where We Are Now:
It really is a unique place. It's not far from Metropolitan Daegu, about 15 minutes via train (which is located in the center of downtown.) The Nakdong River runs along the west side of town, with beautiful walking and biking trails. Jagosan/자고산 (Hill 303) sits at the north end of the village, full of well maintained hiking paths to distract from the hill's dark history.
It's simple, peaceful, and perfect for a quiet family like ours.
We plan to have many more updates here in the future! We will talk about our adventures here in South Korea, struggles/successes in homeschooling, powerlifting/fitness, parenting, and much more!

I feel welcomed - thank you for including me in your adventures. I can't wait to be hearing from all of you.
